Pamela R. Barron
Originally from Newfoundland, Pam an associate lawyer moved to Ottawa in 1996. She was called to the bar of Ontario in February 2002. She has been practicing family law since then and exclusively family Law since 2005. She has been on the panel for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer, representing children, since April 2006. Pam has been working with children and families since 1994 when she worked as a behaviour management specialist/child management specialist for the Department of Health in Newfoundland and Labrador. Pam is now a member of the panel practicing Collaborative Family Law in Ottawa.
In her spare time Pam enjoys travelling, reading, singing and spending time with her grandchildren. She is an active member of the Cumberland Community Singers.
Education:
Pam graduated with a B.Sc.(hons) (psychology) from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1994, and also completed a Graduate Diploma in Behavior Management with Problem Children from Memorial University of Newfoundland 1994.
She graduated from the University of Ottawa with an LLB in 2000 and was called to the bar of Ontario in 2002 after articulating with Tierney Stauffer.

Andrew is excited to begin his legal career with Barron Family Law. He graduated with an B.A. (hons) (History and Philosophy) from the University of Toronto in 2005, and with an M.A. (Philosophy) from the University of Western Ontario in 2006. Andrew also studied towards, and is all but dissertation in, a PhD in Philosophy at McMaster University, with a focus on feminist ethics and the ethics of war and peace.
Andrew graduated from the University of Ottawa with a J.D. in 2022, and was called to the bar in October of 2023, after articling at Pender Law.
Andrew grew up in Milton, Ontario, and moved to Ottawa in 2017. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys spending time with his family, board gaming, wargaming, and hiking.

Kathleen (she/her/elle) is an associate lawyer at Barron Family Law. She brings a global perspective and a deep commitment to supporting individuals and families through some of life’s most challenging times.
After earning her Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University, she completed her Juris Doctor at the University of Ottawa, English Common Law Section, graduating cum laude. During her studies, she received the Arthur Drache, C.M., Q.C. Prize for Excellence in Charity and Not-for-Profit Law.
Called to the Bar in 2024, Kathleen completed her articles, focusing on minority language education rights, at a boutique law firm that specializes in constitutional and public law litigation. She has also gained valuable experience working with both federal and provincial governments, as well as mid-sized law firms.
Fluently bilingual in English and French, Kathleen brings a thoughtful, client-focused approach to her practice. Kathleen takes a clear, compassionate approach to help clients navigate complex legal issues with confidence, offering practical and realistic advice tailored to their needs. She understands the importance of family and personal well-being and is dedicated to helping clients make informed decisions through clear, honest guidance and practical, long-term solutions.
In addition to her practice, Kathleen volunteers with Humanium, a children’s rights non-profit organization. In this role, she provides pro bono legal guidance on children’s rights violations, helping individuals understand their legal options and connecting them with local resources. She also contributes to research and writing initiatives that raise awareness and advocate for the fulfillment of children’s rights around the world.

Since graduating from Algonquin College, Jane has been using her legal assistant diploma to better the Ottawa legal community.
Jane has experience in almost all areas of law but has spent the majority of her career in family law.
Jane has been the administrative back-bone of Barron Family Law since 2011.
She embraces a client-focused approach, acting as a liason between clientele and the legal system.
Upholding her strong knowledge of the Family Law Rules, she extends her professional attitude to both clients and other members of the legal community.
Jane also acts as office manager. Her love for dogs and supporting rescues embodies the compassion and commitment she brings to the office daily.

Ivanna joined P. Barron Family Law in February 2025. She works under Sonia Smee and assists in various matters, ranging from amicable separation agreements to high conflict family law disputes. Her proactive approach and ability to grasp detailed legal concepts makes her a valuable asset to our team and clients.
Ivanna earned her law clerk diploma at Algonquin College, while being a member of the dean’s honours list throughout her studies. She further develops her knowledge of the legal field as she’s completing a Bachelor of Arts with a major in law and a minor in religious studies at Carleton University. She continues to volunteer with United for Literacy to provide tutoring services to the youth and also participates in her mooting club at Carleton and is an active member of Carleton’s Law Society, as well as Carleton’s Women’s Legal Network club. Originally from Montreal, Ivanna is able to assist with matters in English and French and has experience accurately translating documents and audio files.
Outside of the office, Ivanna enjoys staying active, frequently going for long walks, hiking through scenic trails, and getting in workouts at the gym. She also loves spending time with her family and friends, watch classic movies, or trying different coffee shops and bakeries. She’s come to fully embrace the balance between a rewarding professional life and an active personal life.

Shortly after graduating, she started her career in the legal field at a boutique family law firm in downtown Ottawa. Under the guidance of senior counsel, Laura became an in-house trained law clerk, turning her foundational education in law into practical applications.
As a Law Clerk, Laura has supported lawyers in Family Law, including those specializing in domestic violence and Child Protection. She has also worked in Civil Litigation, both with the Department of Justice and at a private law firm.
Laura uses her wealth of practical knowledge to serve the firm’s clients and support the community she’s chosen to call home.

As the Office Administrative Assistant at P. Barron Family Law, I play a key role in keeping our office running smoothly. I handle a variety of tasks, from organizing schedules and managing communications to assisting with client intake and supporting our legal team. Since joining in July 2025, I’ve become deeply committed to ensuring our office operates efficiently and our clients feel well taken care of. I pride myself on my attention to detail, organization, and ability to juggle multiple tasks at once, all while maintaining a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
I’m always happy to lend a hand and contribute to the team’s success! Outside of work, I’m a total social butterfly who loves meeting new people and making connections. Fun fact: I’m also passionate about dancing, and it’s my favorite way to unwind and have fun whenever I can!
